Los Negativos is a Spanish pop rock group formed in Barcelona in 1984 by Carles Estrada (vocals, bass), Valentín Morató (drums), Roberto Grima (guitar) and Xavi Moreras (guitar), later replaced by Alfredo Calonge (vocals, guitar, farfisa). Their music blends with the psychedelic pop of the 1960s, with influences like the Byrds,The Beatles circa Rubber Soul and other American and British psychedelic classic groups. Although they have had a fairly discreet success, their first LP, “Piknik Caleidoscópico”, became a legendary reference for fans of this kind of music and for the mods, Ir was reissued in 2005 by Mushroom Pillow record label. It included 14 songs that range from a pop precious, with arrangements of harpsichord, vibraphone and twelve string guitars, until stronger songs as “Viaje al norte” or “Moscas y arañas”. Lyrics contains abundant references to pop culture and psychedelia. They later released a second album, “18º Sábado Amarillo”, more commercial orientation, and a compilation of demos and unreleased live recordings, titled “Las cintas de Thule”. The members of the band between 1988 and 1995 were: Carles Estrada (vocals, bass), Valentín Morató (drums), Carlos de Ordax (vocals, guitar), David Martínez (Hammond) and Dani Fontrodona (guitar), later replaced by Ernest Barniol (guitar). In 1995, two members of the initial band, Carlos Estrada and Valentín Morato, along with Albert Ramírez, came together to record in 1996 a new album as Negativos, entitled “Puzzle”. In 2009 they released their most recent album, “Dandies Entre Basura”.
