Married couple Terry and Gay Woods formed The Woods Band after their split with Steeleye Span. They recorded one album and toured, however, the rest of the band moved on to other projects and the couple continued under the name Gay & Terry Woods. The couple divorced in 1980, with Gay forming Auto Da Fé and Terry retiring from the industry for 5 years before joining The Pogues. Terry began recording and touring with Dave Browne in 2001, reviving the name The Woods Band. They released an album "Music from the Four Corners of Hell" in 2003.
