Erik Van Heyningen

Canadian-American bass-baritone, b. Seattle. Sings opera, lieder, concert works. His awards include the Barbara and Stanley Richman Memorial Award from Opera Theater of St Louis, where he was a Richard Gaddes Festival Artist; 1st prize, Gerda Lissner Lieder and Song Competition (2016); Mackay Family Grant at Santa Fe Opera (2018). Member of Michigan Opera's Opera studio from 2017 to 2018, studying afterwards at Juilliard School, New York (2018-2020). Joined Wiener Staatsoper Opera Studio in 2020, singing in several new operas and productions. Currently (2022-23) member of Frankurt Oper ensemble, where his roles include Angelotti in Tosca, the Speaker and Guido in new productions of Die Zauberflöte and Mercadante’s Francesca da Rimini, and Masetto in Don Giovanni.
