Classical choir from Bremen-Vegesack, northern Germany. The choir was founded as Jugendchor Vegesack on 17th of May 1945 in Bremen-Vegesack by music teacher Ernst Meißner (1908-1998). It was a girls' choir for the first few months, changed to a mixed choir in January 1946 and quickly earned a very good reputation from numerous concerts and radio appearances. According to Ernst Meißner's notes in the jubilee CD booklet from 1995, the choir had 83 concerts and 101 radio appearances between 1945 to 1949 alone. Concert tours to various European and non-European countries followed. In 1972 the name was changed to Vegesacker Chor. After the recording of a double LP and a final concert tour to Sweden in 1983 with Ernst Meißner, the music teacher and long-time choir member Gerhard Linke (1938-2007) became the choir's new director. The singing teacher Karl Unrasch took over in 2008. The choir is still active.
