The Electronic/Progressive Music duo SOUNDCHASER was born in Rio De Janeiro in 1999, consisting of Renato Menezes (guitars and synthesizers) and Soren Lemche (vocals and keyboards). SOUNDCHASER released their 1st CD – “Intergalactic Radio Station” in December 2000. The band's name was taken from a song of the same name by YES (in the Relayer album) and the title Intergalactic Radio Station is the title of a song by Vangelis (from the Direct album). The biggest influences of its members reside in the music of Progressive bands of the 70's, such as Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, Camel, Focus, Yes, Mike Oldfield and ELP. There is also a great influence from Tangerine Dream Electronics, the New Age Kitaro Himekami Sensation, guitarists John McLauglin, Jeff Beck and Carlos Santana and the most recent ones, from the Ambient/Techno line; Jamm & Spoon, Enigma and Leftfield. IGRS takes place on a distant planet, somewhere in the future and has musical landscapes influenced by past, present and future, spatial dialogues and natural questioning of futuristic tendencies.
