His freshman album, Belize, caught the ear of Prince, who signed Carl and his group to Paisley Park Records. Carl teamed up with Kerry Gordy, son of Motown mogul, Barry Gordy. Warner Brothers bought them out and they released, I’m looking out 4 you, which became the theme song for “Real Stories of the Highway Patrol”. He soon met Benny Medina who provided guidance and music industry survival strategy. He further advanced his career working with Ron Fear of A&M and Eddie Singleton of Disney. He teamed up with Grammy winner, Spencer Proffer to create musical masterpieces for the trend setting cartoon series, “Happily Ever After”. Carl worked side by side with Barry Gordy producing artists including Nkenge, current Broadway star of “Motown, the Musical”, Jadagrace and Leigh Jones. He wrote, co-wrote and produced original music for multiple projects in the television and film industry working with artists such as Christina Milian, Raven Symone’, Salt-N-Pepa, MC Hammer, Gladys Knight, Lou Rawls and George Clinton to name a few. He produced the music for the Fox hit show, “Live Life and Win” and the upcoming “Freddy the Dog” television production. His reputation for perfection consistently makes a great artist better. His accomplished list of diverse performers include celebrated artists such as Jill Scott, Macy Gray, Faith Evans, Jordin Sparks, DMX, Aaron Hall, O Town, Wayne Brady and Gospel Gangstaz. “I’ve Got Someone” performed by Kontiki and produced by Carl stood number one on the American Idol Charts for 8 consecutive weeks.
