Formed in 2017, Aerial emerged from the underground rock scene as an independent band from the tiny island of Temasek (Singapore) as ardent exponents of hard rock accentuated by a little nusantara flavour – a style the band proudly brands as ‘Rock Temasek’. With each member drawing influences from the differing subcultures from the 80s and 90s, Aerial pride themselves as a collective unit that intermeshes a diverse range of ideas without confining themselves to stylistic boundaries. The result is a band that presents their expansive repertoire with charisma and a gritty edge. The band first made their mark with their debut single, Mayangsari, back in 2019 which was launched on all digital platforms including Bandcamp. Driven by their indomitable “Semangat Serigala” (spirit of the wolf), the band produced their maiden album, Semangat Serigala, which was exclusively available on Bandcamp in October 2021 with plans to release it on colored vinyl through Mosta Records by the end of this year. The album has been met with fanfare as well – tracks such as Mayangsari and Serigala have received numerous airplays on RIA 89.7FM, while Gentayangan has been a mainstay on the station’s Singa Maksima Chart. In the visual aspect, Aerial has since produced music videos for Mayangsari and Serigala – the latter co-produced by Mosta Creative – that respectively represents the spirit of DIY and the zeitgeists of the 90s music scene. The Mayangsari visual in particular, has received plaudits by one of Malaysia's Guitar Hero and renowned music producer, Edrie Hashim.
