Beat Instrumental

British monthly music magazine, which specialized in pop and rock genres, printed between May 1963 and 1980. Beat Instrumental was founded by Sean O'Mahony (aka Johnny Dean). Originally published as Beat Monthly, the magazine was renamed to Beat Instrumental Monthly after 18 issues and subsequently became known as "Beat Instrumental" by issue No 37. Similarly to weekly Melody Maker, the periodical targeted professional musicians and emphasized instruments, production and equipment in the interviews and articles. Some of Beat Instrumental's contributors and editors over the years include Steve Turner (4), Adam Sweeting and Pete Makowski.
