Swati Thirunal

Svāti Tirunāḷ‍ Rāma Varma, born 16 April 1813, died 27 December 1846, was the Maharaja of the Kingdom of Travancore, British India and reigned Travancore from 1829 to 1846. His musical education started with the first lessons by Karamana Subrahmanya Bhagavatar, a prominent palace musician, he later studied at the English scholar Tanjavoor Subba Rao who was proficient both in the theory of music and its practice in Tanjore. Over time he became a brilliant composer, credited with over 400 classical compositions in Carnatic and Hindustani style.
