Pedro Sierra (b. L’Hospitalet, Barcelona, 1966). Guitarist and producer Pedro Sierra's introduction to flamenco came accompanying bailaora Flora Albaicín. His career took off again in Madrid in the mid-eighties. He played accompaniment to bailaor Javier Barón and for cantaora Carmen Linares, with whom he recorded several albums. He also worked in the studio with artists such as Parrita, María Vargas, La Susi, El Cabrillero and La Tobala (the cantaora from Seville to whom he's married). In the early nineties he moved to Seville, where he started to combine solo guitar work with accompaniment. Farruco, Manuela Carrasco, Mario Maya, Israel Galván and Manuel Soler are just some of the big name flamenco artists he's played for. Pedro Sierra's solid reputation is also backed up by several awards, including the Premio Nacional de Guitar de Jerez (1991) and the City of Badajoz International Guitar Award (1993). In 2001 he released a solo album entitled ‘Decisión’, featuring Potito and Cepillo, among other artists. He returned to the recording studio to record with other artists, as on ‘Jerez-Xerez-Sherry’ by La Macanita, ‘Cantaores’ and ‘La luna en el río’ by Carmen Linares, ‘De pura cepa’ by Paco Cepero, ‘Azúcar candé’ by Chano Lobato... the list goes on. On some recording projects he also acts as producer, as with La Tobala's albums, the latest of which is ‘Azul’ (2004). Pedro Sierra, who gave a solo performance at the 2004 Festival Bienal de Flamenco in Seville, released on December 2005 his second album 'Nikelao'.
