Об исполнителе:
Ginny Silva is a Mexican female Soul performing act originally from Nayarit, Mexico who moved to Tijuana at the age of 5 with her family. She spent two short years in Los Angeles but was deported back to Mexico and has lived a majority of her life in Tijuana singing in clubs since 1963. Ginny Silva has been singing since she was a child. After being convinced to sing at a local club in Tijuana, her mom gave her an ultimatum to either continue her studies to become a Secretary or be a singer. Gina chose being a singer and begin her career first without pay and later at $10 a night. One of her first songs she performed was "Angel Baby". What made Ginny unique was that although she was Mexicana, she sang in English and focused on performing Soul records. Ginny had a very Soulful voice that gave Tijuana an authentic representation of Soul performances in the USA. Ginny Silva began her career performing with Los Night Owls, Los TJ's (unrelated to Tijuana artist Javier Batiz's group by the same name) and Los Stukas. Gina has toured in Mazatlan and Culiacan in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico but spent most of her career performing in clubs in Tijuana like El Mike's club on la avenida Revolucion where she was an overnight success. Although Ginny Silva doesn't recall any of her recordings being released, her recordings have been released on the Fama label and an obscure Marvel label from San Francisco which carries the same font and Styrene pressing as many Soul private pressings from the Bay Area. Ginny Silva was once approached by Motown to sign a deal as a solo act but due to her loyalty to her band, she respectfully declined. Today she is revered as being one of Tijuana's greatest female performing acts.
