A post-punk/dance-punk band from Bogor, DISKOTEQ, has just released its first short album titled Grayscale in digital format. The album, which contains five songs, was released by the independent record label La Munai Records. This album was first introduced in a cassette format at the 2019 Record Store Day Indonesia. DISKOTEQ was formed in 2018 and now consists of Bayu Ramadhan Dwi Azni (vocals), Melly Aprianty (guitar), Dhani Ramdhani (bass/vocals), Ahmad Fauzan (synthesizer), and Prayoga Setiawan (drums). The music contains a formula for dancing beats combined with the aggressiveness of punk rock tones. Some names that influence DISKOTEQ's music include Gang of Four, Public Image Ltd, Pop Group, Wire, The Rapture, Au Pairs, NWA, to Wu-tang Clan. “The band started out as a recording project adapting the booming post-punk revival of the mid-2000s. When this project started to gain traction, all the members agreed to turn it into a full-fledged band,” said vocalist Bayu. Before releasing Grayscale as a whole, they first introduced their musical identity through a single titled "Graph". This one-minute song was uploaded on the Instagram page and received a lot of positive reviews. “From the music scene, we happen to like songs like “White Mice” from Mo-Dettes, “Available” from Moving Units, “Out of the Races and onto the Tracks” from The Rapture, to “To Hell with Proverty.” from the Gang of Four. The rest, each of us when we heard what song, we just put it in,” added Bayu.
