Spanish conductor born Vitoria, 21 september 1965. From 1999 to 2008 was main conductor and artistic director of Orquesta Sinfonica De Bilbao. Baltimore Symphony Orchestra guess conductor in 2004. Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester guess conductor from 2007 to 2013. BBC Philharmonic main conductor from 2010 to 2018. In 2016, the Orquesta Nacional De España named Mena its new 'Director Asociado' (principal guest conductor). In May 2016 was guested by Sir Simon Rattle to conduct Berliner Philharmoniker for Iberia (Debussy), El sombrero de tres picos (Falla) y el Concierto para arpa (Alberto Ginastera). In October 2016, the Cincinnati May Festival announced the appointment of Mena as its new principal conductor for Cincinnati May Festival Chorus and orchestra, effective with the 2017-2018 season, with an initial contract of 3 years.
