Rock and rockabilly guitarist, singer and songwriter, born in Luzern Mines, Pennsylvania, April 3, 1932; died July 19, 2011 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. Also recorded and/or performed as Johnny Valor, George Darrow and The Young Americans, Johnny Dollar, and Johnny Come Lately, among others. He also composed songs for political figures and local sports teams. The political songs included "Tribute to LBJ" for Lyndon B. Johnson and "Shapp Polka" for Former Pennsylvania Governor Milton Shapp. Team songs included the Pittsburgh Pirates' "Buc Fever", "Green Weenie Dog", "Babushka Power", and "Danny Murtaugh" as well as for the Steelers in 2009 for their Superbowl run "Seven -- We Will Be In Heaven" Later in life became an eccentric inventor, while still performing and composing songs for local TV and radio programs.
