Pia Olby

Swedish singer and singing teacher. Born January 28, 1956 in Strängnäs Olby graduated as a singing and speech pedagogue at the Stockholm Institute of Music Education in 1980 and has since been active as a jazz singing teacher there and as a theater singing teacher. She became a singing actress at the Riksteatern in 1979 and has also been active as a freelance jazz singer. She participated in the radio series Folknöjet 1984 (together with Jeja Sundström and Sid Jansson) and through jazz tours with, among others, Jan Wallgren and Brus Trio. She was awarded the Jan Johansson Scholarship in 1991. Olby has been a senior lecturer in musical design at the Academy of Music at Örebro University since 1989 and a senior lecturer in singing design at Stockholm University School of Drama. She has also been an Accredited Teacher in NGVW (Nadine George Voice Work) since 2013.
