Evangeline Carmichael McPherson, born Evangeline Knight, was a veteran Hollywood studio singer, was born September 27, 1926 and died July 9, 2009 of complications during heart surgery. She attended LIFE Bible College in Los Angeles and worked in the afternoons with Minister of Music Jimmie Boersma at Angelus Temple. Her singing experiences led her to hosting her own radio show on Sunday nights with Paul Mickelson. She married Ralph Carmichael in 1948 and had one daughter, Carol Celeste. The couple recorded with Sacred Records and pioneered many firsts in both sacred and secular music, spanning several decades. Separated in 1963, Evangeline worked in entertainment for the next 25 years, including television, film, records and radio. She supplied backing vocals for many Los Angeles sessions, including artists as diverse as Sonny & Cher, The Osmonds and Andy Williams.
