American lawyer (licensed in St. Louis in 1917) and lyricist. Her family owned the Allen Music publishing company and music store in Columbia, Missouri and published the music of pioneering ragtime composer and performer John William Boone, better known as "Blind Boone" as well as managing his concerts in his final years. She and her husband managed the Allen Music business in St. Louis. They advertised a "words written for music or song words revised" service and she was writing lyrics at least as early as 1923. In 1925 she co-wrote a published song with notable ragtime piano composer Charles L. Johnson. Her frequently used pen name was Nellie Doud Allen. In later years, she utilized the services of "song poem" companies such as Nordyke and Globe Recording Studio, Inc. to produce sheet music and recordings from her lyrics. In 1959 she started her own publishing and record company (Nada Music (4) and Nada Records (8)) to publish and release some of them.
