Masa Takumi

MASA TAKUMI (a.k.a. Masanori Takumi ) is a Grammy Nominated, multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter and producer. He began his career as a drummer and songwriter with the rock band "Siren" that was signed to BMG JAPAN in 2000. Masa then established himself as a full time composer and producer writing many hits for major artists including a single for “DA PUMP” with 11 million views on YouTube and an album for “EXILE” that sold over 2 million CDs. Masa’s songwriting for AAA's single "Call" won the Excellence Album Award at the 53rd Japan Record Awards. Masa has also composed for many Japanese animated films such as "Claymore" and “Witchcraft.” Over 40 songs he has produced have made it into the top 10 of Japanese music charts. He also has worked as a producer with several major US artists, such as rock vocalist Eric Martin and legendary drummer Terry Bozzio. He wrote a song “Let’s Make A Video” for the artist and YouTube star “That Poppy” for the Mad Decent label. He also wrote a song “Reflection” for Trey Songs; the album “11” which included “Reflection” made No.1 in iTunes R&B chart. MASA received a nomination for the 56th Grammy Awards in 2014 for the album "REGGAE CONNECTION," where he worked as a guitarist and keyboardist with the legendary reggae musicians and producers Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare in their group SLY & ROBBIE. In 2016, Masa made his solo debut with the album “Stars Falling”, for which he composed and performed all the instruments. A year later, he released the album “Deep Down”, which won both Akademia Music Awards and Global Music Awards. His artistic music video for “Deep Down” garnered a nomination at the 2018 Hollywood Music In Media Awards. The Domo Music Group signed Masa's album “Heritage” in 2020 which combined traditional Japanese and western instruments. Exploring this style further Masa released “Sakura” in 2022 which has received a Grammy nomination for “Best Global Music Album”
