Víctor Piñero (b. Caracas, may 10th, 1923 - d. Caracas, january 4th, 1975) also known as "El Negro Piñero" and "El Rey del Merecumbé", is a venezuelan singer. Piñero was born in Caracas on may 10th, 1923. Since his youth showed his ability to sing, and gained a singing radio contest promoted by "Radio Libertador", backed by a band directed by Leonardo Pedroza. in 1944, Piñero is hired by the "Mañito's Orchestra" for a shorty time after joined to the "Leonard Melody orchestra", belon to Leonardo Pedroza, where began to showed his growth up as singer and the Hermanos Belisario Orchestra offered him the place as his stellar singer. The orchestra was desbanded and one of the Belisario's brother, Pedro Jose Belisario, organized his own orchestra with Piñero as principal atraction. At mid of years 50 of century XX, Piñero became in the only one venezuelan to recorded with the legendary La Sonora Matancera. After his adventure in Havana, Piñero returned to Venezuela and he joined to Los Peniques with a total success. Pacho Galán extended an invitation to Piñero to join to his orchestra, Galán had in his mind a new rythm, Merecumbé, and throwgh it with Piñero as his messanger. Very soon El Merecumbé gained popularity in América and Víctor Piñero became in the king, "El Rey del Merecumbé". Piñero started a new era as traveler singer, first in his motherland with Chucho Sanoja Y Su Orquesta, after that in Dominican Republic with "Angelita orchestra", following his travel to Puerto Rico with Cortijo Y Su Combo. Returned to Venezuela and led the singers line of "Arnaldo Belisario's orchestra", to continued his carrear along "La Tremenda", Orquesta De Alberto Muñoz. In 1958, Renato Capriles invited to Victor Piñero to star with his orchestra Los Melódicos, and got a new chain of success. Piñero left "Los Melódicos" and started his own project, Victor Piñero Y Sus Caribes, which existence was brief in the similar way was his stay with Emilita Dago Y Su Combo Gigante. Piñero returned to "Los Melódicos", and on january of 1975 during a party on a reknowned hotel chain, the death surprised to "El Rey del Merecumbé".
