Gospel singer and member of The Davis Sisters (2) and from 1956-1957 a member of The Caravans (2). Born in 1930, Imogene was from Chicago, Illinois. She was discovered singing in church by the Rev. James Cleveland. She had sung with several other nationally known gospel groups including Gospel All Stars, The Gospel Chimes, and the Famed Lux Singers of Chicago. Imogene sang lead on “Bye and Bye” which would become one of the signature songs of The Davis Sisters (2). Her contralto style added texture to The Davis Sisters (2)’ group overall sound. Her voice was described by critics as husky, simultaneously moody yet smokey, which added depth and excitement to the group’s performances. She also sang lead on the song “Jesus” by The Caravans (2) in 1953. She died in July 1982.
