American Vocalist and Producer primarily associated with the music industry in Nashville. Born December 31, 1938 Fountain Head, Tennessee Died December 17 1993 (aged 54) Tennessee. He was known for his deep bass voice and sang in numerous vocal groups. He was instrumental in getting live coverage of gospel music on the Grand Ole Opry and other cable television broadcasts. Wanting to get off the road, Herman left his role with the Oak Ridge Boys in December of 1968 and began working with the first ever booking agency in gospel music Don Light Talent, who represented the group at the time. He is the founder of the Gospel Music Trust Fund and he created the Harper and Associates (now called The Harper Agenc)--a leading Southern Gospel talent agency in 1985. In 1997, he was posthumously inducted into the Southern Gospel Singers Hall of Fame.
