Kim Dae-Rye was born in Sammak-ri, Imae-myeon, Jindo-gun, in 1935. Her father, Kim Young-chan, was a deceased person from Bigeumdo, but she was not from a hereditary family. Her maternal grandfather, Park Jong-ki, was a master of daegeum, and her mother, Park So-shim, was her famous dango. Her husband Chan-yong Han was from a hereditary family, but she was not good. Kim Dae-rye, who started performing in earnest at the age of 23, learned her gut from her mother, Park So-shim's cousin, Park Seon-ae. Her dangool plates are Sammak, Yongho-ri, and Gil Uji. But in the 1960s she moved to Baekdong when she was Im Hoi and she stopped doing dango plates. She has six children, but she has no descendants to succeed her.
