Curly (born Corinna Riti) is the pseudonym of a German singer. Her name stems from her distinctive brown curls, which is her trademark. Curly was born Corinna in Bietigheim-Bissingen near Stuttgart. Her father is Sicilian and her mother is African-American. As a child, she received singing lessons and sang in local bands at the age of twelve. She also started dancing and took courses at the New York City Dance School in Stuttgart. During a concert of Prince & The New Power Generation, she met Prince Backstage. This earned her a role in his video "I Wanna Melt With U" and a stay at his Paisley Park studio in Minneapolis. After graduating from high school, Curly traveled to New York and Vienna to pursue her dance and singing career. After returning to Germany, she worked in Frankfurt am Main with Hit Radio FFH and Planet Radio. Later she moderated at Antenne Bayern and BigFM. During the first season of the casting show Popstars 2000 Curly acted as a presenter for the Frankfurt casting. By chance and with the help of her colleagues, however, she landed herself in the casting. In the end, she was one of the last to leave, narrowly missing a commitment to the No Angels. [1] Ex-Genghis Khan singer Leslie Mandoki then took on her as producer and recorded an album with Curly. This was called "Natural", was released in 2001 and was a pop music LP characterized by Indian music influences. [2] The most successful decouplings were "Don't walk away" and "Beautiful Lies". The former song was also used for the album "Stars inspired by Atlantis" for the Disney movie "Atlantis : The Secret of the Lost City". [2] In addition, the last song "Stay" was used as the title song of the ARD telenovela "Sturm der Liebe". [3]
