Norbert Gstrein

Norbert Gstrein, born in 1961 in Tyrol, lives in Hamburg. He has received the Alfred Döblin Prize, the Literature Prize of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Uwe Johnson Prize, the Austrian Book Prize 2019, the Düsseldorf Literature Prize and the Thomas Mann Prize, among others. Hanser published Die Winter im Süden (novel, 2008), Die englischen Jahre (novel, new edition 2008), Das Handwerk des Tötens (novel, new edition 2010), Die ganze Wahrheit (novel, 2010), In der Luft (stories, new edition 2011), Eine Ahnung vom Anfang (novel, 2013), In der freien Welt (novel, 2016), Die kommenden Jahre (novel, 2018), Als ich jung war (novel, 2019) and most recently the novel Der zweite Jakob (2021), with which he was nominated for the German Book Prize.
