Polish contemporary artist and photographer (b. 14 September 1947, Wrocław); currently based in Łomianki, near Warsaw. Zofia Kulik works in a broad range of media, including sculpture, actionism, photography, collages, objects and installations. Kulik's art is often highly politicized, dealing with issues of feminism, power and totalitarianism. Her artworks are in renowned international collections at MoMA, Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, Moderna Museet, and Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, among others. Zofia Kulik studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw from 1965 to 1971. Soon after graduation, she met Przemysław Kwiek (b. 1945), becoming partners and artistic collaborators by forming KwieKulik duo. They were influenced by the "Open Form" concept, considering the documentation of the artistic process even more important than the finished work. The partnership ended in 1987, and Kulik continued working solo.
