David Alexander (1965-2022) a.k.a. "Loafy" was a vocalist, keyboardist, guitarist, and ukulelist best known for his long association with The Monkees. In 1993 he joined the back up band for Davy Jones and eventually becoming Jones's music director and comic foil, acquiring the nickname "Loafy" for his impression of singer Meatloaf. In that same period, Alexander toured with Jones on the nationwide Brady Bunch theatre tour, then joined Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz for a national tour. In 1996-7 he joined all four original Monkees for the JUSTUS international tour (selling out Wembley Stadium in England; Mike Nesmith left the American leg), rejoining them again for a 2001-2 reunion tour. In 2005, Alexander began playing with Micky Dolenz (for Dolenz's solo shows) and has played on all subsequent Monkees reunion tours (excluding the 2011 45th Anniversary international Tour). Concurrently, Alexander played with The Teen Idols, related Monkees spin-off projects. and a Boston-based Beatles-tribute band, Glass Onion.
