Guillermo Marín Rodríguez was the author of the lyrics of "Himno de la Escuela de Aviación Capitán Manuel Ávalos Prado" the anthem of the Chilean Aviation School, The music of this piece is by Enrique Pacheco García. He was born in Santiago on August 29, 1910 and his character and his desire to defend the Chilean Homeland led him to wear the Army uniform, entering as a Cadet at the age of 17. A year after the Chilean Air Force was founded, in 1930, it became part of the first year of the Aviation School. As a war pilot he was stationed in Iquique, Santiago and Puerto Montt. He also served as Chile's aeronautical attaché in the United Kingdom. He was one of those in charge of bringing the Vultee BT-13 Valiant aircraft in flight from the United States in 1943. His distinguished career also includes work as a professor at the Aviation School and the Air War Academy, And as Director of the School of Specialties.
