New Zealand pop-rock act, used to be called The Nixons but had to change their name, so they called themselves Eye TV after the title of one of their songs The name Eye TV comes from the title of an Iggy Pop song called 'TV Eye'. They were originally known as Nixons, and were forced to change their name prior to their first tour of the United States, as there was another band in America called The Nixons. (Eye TV was the name of the first Nixons album.) The band first performed as Eye TV on Waitangi Day, 1995. The Eye TV song 'Wish It All Away' won the Flying Fish Music Video Of The Year in 1998. 'One Day Ahead' was the most played New Zealand song on radio in 2000 and earned a 'Best Song' and 'Best Video' nomination at the annual New Zealand Music Awards. Fire Down Below debuted in the Official New Zealand Top 40 Albums on 24 September 2000, and was in the Top 40 Albums for three weeks with a highest position of #10.
