Dead For Days was a death metal band from the suburbs of Chicago, IL, USA, formed in 2000 by Rick Hernandez (drums), Zack Smolenski (guitar), Kevin Schenk (bass) and Potty (vocals). The band initially called themselves In Pieces before discovering that the moniker was already taken and changing their name to Dead For Days. Schenk died in 2001. He was replaced first by Manny Canchola and then later by Jason Quiram and Matt Garrett was added as 2nd guitarist. The band released their 1st album in 2004. Afterwards, more line-up changes happened, with Potty departing and Garrett adding lead vocals to his responsibilities, and Quiram leaving and being replaced by Rene De La Mora. Eventually, James Eads joined as full-time vocalist and, in 2008, the band released their 2nd album, this one featuring a line-up of Eads, Garrett, Hernandez, Smolenski, and De La Mora. More line-up changes occured afterwards, with Eads, Smolenski, and De La Mora all departing and James Genenz (bass) and Cody Zupan (vocals) joining the group. With only one original member remaining in the band, the group decided to put Dead For Days to rest and, in 2010, Hernandez, Garrett, Zupan, and Genenz announced that they were regrouping as Reign Inferno.
