Jörgen Rörby

Swedish guitarist and lutenist, born in Uppsala, Uppsala County on September 26, 1932, died in Norrtälje, Stockholm County on August 21, 1988. Jörgen Rörby succeeded Roland Bengtsson in 1974 as guitarist in Gitarr-Kammartrion. In memory of Jörgen Rörby, the "Jörgen Rörby Scholarship" from the Swedish Guitar and Luta Society's scholarship fund is awarded every year. The main purpose of the fund is to promote musical education and training by awarding scholarships to young, promising guitarists and lutenists. The society was formed in 1968 on the initiative of Jörgen Rörby.
