The Reichs-Bruckner-Chor (Reich Bruckner Choir) was formed alongside the Reichs-Bruckner-Orchester in 1942. Heinrich Glasmeier, Reichsintendant of German Broadcasting, was personally commissioned by Hitler to build a Bruckner consecration place in the St. Florian Monastery. The members of the orchestra and choir were sworn in at Anton Bruckner's sarcophagus. Günther Ramin was appointed chorus master . Membership was drawn from various radio choirs, particularly the Reichsender Leipzig . The Bruckner Choir played its first concerts in Leipzigunder the direction of Ramin. Shortly before the choir moved to St. Florian in April 1944, Ramin resigned from his position. His successor was the organist Michael Schneider (3). Before its dissolution by US occupation forces after the end of the war, the choir appeared almost exclusively at Wehrmacht and hospital concerts.
