"Chronic illness couldn't keep my musical dreams down! Hi! Susie here. Piano keys reached out for me at age 5 and have held me tight ever since. I began playing publicly in my teens. In more recent years, illness pushed me to the proverbial edge and song writing caught me on the way down. When writing for my own artistic pleasure, themes of identity, home, dying, friendship – the ups and downs – are my go-to topics. Typically piano-driven but not always, flavours of Adele, Evanescence, Billie Eilish and Sara Bareilles find their way into my music, so I’ve been told. I also seem to be getting a reputation amongst peers that I am the queen of the dark, moody, haunting piano ballad. I’m okay with that. But when collaborating, I love the challenge of putting aside my musical biases, and playing with a plethora of topics and styles. ‘You Don’t Know Who I Really Am’ is a prime example of what I love to write. Featuring the lovely Erin Corbin of Two Crows For Comfort and produced by Elessar Thiessen, I am thankful for the talent who made it come alive. I do have one question though. Why do lyrics whisper most loudly at 1 a.m.?!?"
