Catherine Smith

Canadian backing vocalist for Hoyt Axton and others, occasional songwriter and well-known groupie connected to Levon Helm / The Hawks (2), Gordon Lightfoot and The Rolling Stones. Born 25 April 1947 in Hamilton, Ontario; died 16 August 2020. In the early to mid 1970s, she was Gordon Lightfoot's romantic partner and muse. In 1986, she was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for administering the lethal drug dose to John Belushi in 1982, serving 15 months in prison.
