Gregor Sturm

German stage and costume designer, theatre manager, activist, trained architect and independent wine dealer. Studied theatrical design at the Technische Universität Berlin (2003-2005), and has since worked on numerous opera, operetta and theatre productions and cultural events, in a large and diverse range of performance contexts. Freelance instructor at (among others) the Universität der Künste Berlin, the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden and the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München. Joined executive committee of (German) Scenographers’ Association (Szenografie-Bund) in 2015, co-chair since 2021. One of three awardees of theatre prize „DER FAUST“ (2018) as co-organiser of campaign „40.000 Theatermitarbeiter*innen treffen ihre Abgeordneten“ (40,000 Theatre Workers Meet Their MPs”), in which members of several associations of theatre professionals invited their political representatives to visit their workplaces, observe their work at first hand and establish dialogue.
