Spanish cartoonist, writer, playwright, illustrator and author, known by his first surname, Muntañola (Barcelona, April 9, 1914 - Barcelona, March 5, 2012), with which he used to sign. One of his best-known series is "Josechu el vasco". He began his career in comics in the mid-1930s in Catalan magazines such as "El Be Negre", "L'Esquitx" and "En Patufet". After the war, he made several short cartoon films starring "Faquir González", in association with Francesc Rovira-Beleta and José Escobar Saliente. He edited the magazine "Atalaya", collaborated in "Páginas vividas" and wrote humorous western novels in Catalan, such as "Han arribat dos homes" (1937). From the 1940s onwards, he created characters for "TBO", such as "Josechu el vasco", "Angelina" y "Cristobalito" and "Doña Exagerancia" and began to collaborate with numerous weekly magazines and newspapers. Between 1962 and 1984 he published a daily cartoon strip in" La Vanguardia".
