British-born Alan Green a.k.a. Arlan Day is an acclaimed singer-songwriter, keyboardist, producer, script-writer, and author. His career has intersected with everyone from Richard Perry to Dudley Moore to The Monkees. His star rose in the 1970s as a keyboardist and singer for hire, and his songs were recorded by Merv Griffin (among others). He was hired by Davy Jones (Monkees) in 1979 to be part of Jones's back-up band, eventually collaborating with Jones on music projects and an award-winning graphics book in 1992. Three of Green's songs, "You'll Soon Be 16," "Number One" and "Free" were performed and recorded by Jones (the latter song being a tribute to The Monkees). Concurrently, Green released his own music. Under the name Arlyn Day, he was signed to Epic Records and Spencer Proffers production company. The title song of his LP, I SURRENDER, became a Top 30 hit in the early 80s. In the late 80s, he self-released a highly regarded album, DARE TO FLY, recorded with members of The Plimsouls. After a string of independent projects in the 90s, he relocated to Los Angeles and continues to perform.
