Karol Kątski

Karol Kątski (born September 6, 1815 in Kraków ; † August 27, 1867 in Paris ) [1] was a Polish pianist, music teacher and composer. He was the eldest of the four Kątski brothers who became known as musicians: Antoni and Stanisław as pianists, Apolinary as violinist. He began performing as a pianist at the age of seven. He later studied at the Warsaw Conservatory and in Paris, where he worked as a piano teacher until his death. As a composer he has distinguished himself with chamber music works, including three string quartets and a piano trio, a Grand Fantaisie for violin and piano and a Fantaisie concertante for violin, cello and piano.
