Blues bassist, also known as Big Joe Turner. Not to be confused with the "Shake, Rattle, & Roll" vocalist, Big Joe Turner Born in Jackson, Tennessee, July 4, 1944. Died January 31, 2008. Joe Turner began at the age of 10 playing drums, then played trombone and guitar, to settle permanently on bass. He becomes one of the most subtle bass players. He accompanied BB King for 5 years, Albert King for 7 years, Little Milton for 4 years, and also became the bassist for some others like Earl Hooker, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Isaac Hayes... Having settled in Memphis, he has performed in recent years with his band, The Memphis Blues Caravan, with whom he records his latest records. He had participated in many festivals in Europe, especially in August 2007 at Chedigny, where he was the godfather.
