Swedish soprano vocalist. She has a repertoire containing early music, folk music and contemporary repertoire. Helena has collaborated with lutenists Jakob Lindberg and Stephen Stubbs and with them gave concerts in Sweden and Europe. With the gambist and conductor Philippe Pierlot and his ensemble Ricercar Consort, she has toured in Belgium and France. In addition to collaboration with Swedish baroque ensembles such as Drottningholms Barockensemble, Karlsson Barock and Rebaroque, Helena has also sung with Arte dei Suonatori, Poland, Holland Baroque Society and with the Norwegian Baroque Orchestra. Helena Ek has appeared in several baroque operas and made her debut in 1997 at Drottningholm's Slottsteater. Helena has appeared on TV and radio on a number of occasions and has recorded several records of Renaissance and Baroque music, including in England for Sony Classical and Virgin Classics. On the album "Maria" she sings medieval songs and Swedish folk music and has toured Japan with this music. In contemporary music, she has been a soloist in Karin Rehnqvist's "Requiem Aeternam" with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, which was also premiered in Scotland with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra recorded by the BBC. In 2015, Helena also premiered a mini-drama, "Sleep now", written by Rehnqvist for trio, at Vara Konserthus. In the same year, Helena premiered the opera "Den där Hallen" by Malin Hülphers at Gunnebo Castle with "The Gothenburg Combo". In Fredrik Sixten's "Johannespassionen" she has sung the soprano parts. In "En Svensk Markuspassion" and "Ett Ssvenskt juloratorium" she is often hired for the soloist part as evangelist. She has also recorded Fredrik Sixten's Christmas Oratorium, which was released on the label Footprint records.
