Named “The Idols” after a vote between regulars of the nightclub / restaurant ‘Auto Club’ in Kifissia in 1965, several names were proposed by the singer Mrs. Danae. "The Idols" was suggested by singer Jo Michat (from the song "L'Idole des Jeunes" by Johnny Halliday). After numerous line-up changes the band consisted of: Dinos Papavassiliou - piano Notis Lalaitis - farfisa & electronic organ Demis Roussos - bass Anthony Youlis - guitar Nick Tsiloyiannis - drums Jo Michat - vocals & bandleader In 1966, Demis Roussos left to join The Minis and was replaced by Manolis Kavouklis. As military service in Greece was compulsory many changes occurred in 1967. Nick Tsiloyiannis left and was replaced by Vasilis Konstantinidis. Jo Michat also left to pursue a solo career. George Petridis (from The Blue Birds) replaced him. Within two years the singers of the band alternated between George Petridis and Lazaros Papageorgiou. The band split in 19712. Final line-up: Vasilis Konstantinidis - drums, vocals Vasilis Papavassiliou - bass, lead vocals Anthony Youlis - guitar George Pentzikis - piano, flute, backing vocals Notis Lalaitis - Hammond organ, vocals There were reunions in 1990-91 and 1992-97 with live concerts in Athens.
