Ema Elena was born on May 27, in Mexico City. She was the second of three descendants of the marriage formed by Mr. Darío Valdelamar Terán and Mrs. Victoria Casarín. He, accountant and auditor of the National Railways and his housewife. Obeying the work circumstances of Don Darío, the family lived in several states of the Republic such as Aguascalientes, Tabasco, San Luis Potosí and Guanajuato, among others. When Ema Elena was 11 years old, her family settled in Mexico City. Being very small, with the ingenuity of a 7-year-old girl, she begins to play with words, composing simple rhymes and children's stories that she narrated to her school friends. At fourteen, she starts working as a secretary. In fact, the restless Ema Elena completed business studies, worked as a cashier and accountant. It was during the first grade of high school that her creativity emerged and she composed her first song: 'Te olvidé', the same song she never made known. When her creative sensitivity manifested, she had to swim against the current, because her mother, Mrs. Victoria, opposed the idea that her daughter was an "artist" ... "singer", that would be a shame, but she had the unconditional support of her father, what she is eternally grateful for and keeps in her heart. For her fortune, and also for that of Mexico, Ema Elena managed to get ahead of that family circumstance, because her passion for music was stronger than the obstacles she faced. Ema Elena with the freshness of her 17, or maybe 18 years, was a woman determined to defend her path and thus to shine with her own light. Her challenge as a woman was to alternate in an environment of men. At that time, Agustín Lara, Tata Nacho, Saber Marroquín, Mario Talavera, Federico Baena, among others were in vogue. At the beginning of the decade of the 40's, this vehement composer manages to locate singing in recognized radio programs of the XEB, the XEQ and the unforgettable XEW. Her inspiration turns into two memorable songs: 'Devuélveme El Corazón' and 'Mil Besos', same that triumph in the voices of already exalted performers like María Victoria and Los Bribones, who record them and earn four gold discs. It should be noted that these are issues that to this day still apply to the public's taste, with 800 and 330 recordings accumulated, respectively. For 1950, Much heart with Beny Moré is recorded, achieving a resounding success. 'Mucho Corazón' has more than 800 recordings, which have made it known to the world. In 1962, how far was Ema Elena from imagining that her song, 'Cheque En Blanco', would become the anthem of women. Its success is evident with more than 500 recordings. Constant and devoted to her job she creates: Vivir Sin ti, Sin Mañana Ni Ayer, Volver A Besarte, Por Qué No Fuiste tú, Dos Soledades, Quién, No Te Puedo Olvidar, Mi Amor Es Aquél and Ya No Me Importa. The work of Ema Elena has been present in the voice of different singers in multiple stages, and others have been adorned with the presence of the composer herself, how to forget the romantic evenings in La Caverna! The passion made song could not miss in the nightlife and bohemian of Mexico. And so, her songs are decisive, she does not have medium terms, she is resounding, forceful woman of character with passion to the surface. A generous soul who has given us a blank check of inspiration, a woman who has given us her love in each of her works, and to whom, thank God, she still has a lot, but a lot of heart ...
