American concert violinist and restaurateur (born March 6, 1920 in Tampa, Florida – died December 9, 1992) Born César Gonzalez Martinez, Gonzmart studied the violin from age 6. He attended Stetson University on a scholarship, then went to Cuba where he became the concertmaster of the Havana Symphony Orchestra at age 21 and earned a doctorate in music from the University of Havana. After touring the US and Cuba with a popular orchestra, César Gonzalez and his Magic Violins, he decided to change his name to Gonzmart, a combination of his father's and his mother's last names. In 1946, he married Adela H. Gonzmart, a Juillard-trained concert pianist. Starting in 1953, he and his wife became involved in running the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City, Florida, where he continued to perform.
