Wilting

Finding each other through posts on Facebook and Craigslist, Wilting formed at the start of 2021 during a cold, wet, and quarantine filled winter in Seattle. United by their shared desire to play loud and fast while also wanting a reason to leave the house, Ben, Leigh, Duncan, and Jay spent the first few months of practice focused on learning how to write music and play together. During this time they searched for a vocalist who could match the energy and abrasiveness they had begun to sculpt in practice. This led to a gurling process of playing with a rotating cast of new vocalists, trying to find one that could not only keep up with what the band was playing, but was confident and had a strong enough voice to be heard over the wall of noise that filled the practice space. After several odd and unique experiences with different hopefuls, searching ended after a practice with Phoebe that made it clear the band was complete. With a full line up in place, the band started working to write as much as they could. Becoming fast friends, the music is a collaborative effort that reflects the band’s non-hierarchical structure. There is no leader and everyone brings ideas that become the kindling for songs and together stoke the flames of creativity. Wilting recorded their first EP in a single summer’s day and released it in December 2021. The band is continuing to write and explore new song ideas together, working towards releasing their fist full length album as soon as they can. In the meantime, they play shows regularly around Seattle and always have an eye out for the next city that will have them.
