Jean-Paul Prat

French multi-instrumentalist, born on September 27, 1953. He began studying piano at the age of 9. In the mid-sixties he began to practice several instruments, guitar, drums, bass and began to sing. At the age of 15 he played live in pop orchestra. In 1971, he started to learn percussion at the Conservatoire in Lyon. Simultaneously he started to compose his own music and, in 1973, founded the group MASAL in which he was drummer and pianist. His musical career is very varied: - In 1979 he played with several bands in Hamburg as drummer, singer, bassist. - Studio musician in the 80s, playing drums alongside the best French musicians and recording for several famous pop artists. Also later, as a singer, arranger, musician, he participated in various projects, musicals, recordings, accompaniment of artists... - In 1982, he recorded the first album of his goup Masal, under his own name : Jean-Paul Prat - Masal - In 1985, he created the workshops Ephphata, pedagogy of "opening" of the person by the reception of the rhythmic pulsation. - In 1986, he worked as an arranger, musician and coordinator at the meeting of Pope John Paul II with 60,000 young people at the Gerland stadium in Lyon and his music supported all the scenic game. In 2000, he founded the band Aquero in which he was bassist-singer and composed most of the songs. In 2009, he formed a new version of his first band Masal, in which he is now the pianist.
