Ronald Eyre

English theatre director, actor and writer, born 13 April 1929 in Mapplewell, Yorkshire, died 8 April 1992. In 1956, Eyre accepted a job as BBC drama director, where he wrote his own plays for both radio and television. In 1982, he was entrusted by Covent Garden with a prestige production of Verdi's 'Falstaff', which opened in Los Angeles and marked Carlo Maria Giulini's return to opera in the theatre.
