Roy Smith (23)

Hillbilly songwriter. Wrote "Rollin' Along" for The Prairie Ramblers. Also played fiddle and bass. Originally from McMinnville, Tennessee, he left his position as musical director in a high school to become a founding member of the hillbilly band, Smith's Tennesseans, in 1931. The band was heard regularly on radio station WSPD , Toledo, Ohio, from the early 1930s into the 1950s. In 1950 they began daily appearance on WSPD-TV.
