Ecuadorean composer (born 1885 in Loja – died 1954 in Quito). A self-taught musician, the young Jaramillo played the trumpet in a Banda Militar in his hometown. Later, he toured Panama with the then famous Orquesta Mendelssohn. After his return, he formed several provincial wind orchestras. In the town of Zámbiza, he was termed a "wizard" when he trained the orchestra to play in just eight days. Later Jaramillo became a voice teacher at the Conservatories of Guayaquil and Quito. Jaramillo composed many pieces; among the best known are "Lágrimas De Oro," "Quiéreme Así," "Sollozos De Un Rondador," "Yo Soy Quiteño," "Obreros De Cayambe," "Voz Del Corazón," "Camanta Huacani," "A Ti," "Danzante," "Fox Incaico," "Quiteñita," and "Zambiceña."
