Tony Gemba

Tony began his musical journey in Walpole, Massachusetts in the early-mid 1990s self teaching himself the drums to all different styles of music. He started recording and playing out live at the age of 13, playing the drums & providing back up vocals for Ska-Punk band Jerk Alert!. After Jerk Alert split up, he then played drums for Hardcore band A Fine Line which turned into the Punk Rock group Shit Outta Luck. When SOL broke up, Tony found himself writing lyrics with songs structured out on the drums in his mind. He found players and became the frontman for and founding member of The Boston Jolly Pirates (aka BJP). While in BJP he also self taught himself the Theremin and incorporated it into the bands' Thrashy and sometimes Experimental Ska-Core sound. The Pirates disbanded after about a decade together and Tony went back to playing drums for longtime friends the Brunt of It. Brunt of It have been active since the mid 90's and play a very distinct style of Ska-Core. Not limiting himself to one band, Tony formed Gorilla Kong with a couple of his best friends growing up. He would play the drums in GK but also played an active role with the vocals, writing lyrics and singing whole parts while behind the drum kit. GK played a surfy Hardcore Punk Rock style with Ska thrown in for good measure. Currently in 2022, Tony is still drumming for Brunt of It, while GK is mostly inactive. Tony has also recently formed his dream band The Screaming Brains (aka Band with the Screaming Brain), bringing back his favorite writing method- writing the lyrics with a song in his head and fully structured on the drums, while enlisting friends to play the rest of the instruments and complete the songs. He also started LOBE RECORDS as a means to digitally self release music he is a part of.
