Joachim Domning

Artist and authority on Baroque lute music German artist, born 1934 in Berlin. Domning studied painting and music and has contributed significantly to both fields during a lifetime of artistic pursuits, as well as devoting his life to social issues and the caring for people with disabilities. In 1963 he began an extensive study of modern and historic plucked instruments and has researched lives of lutenists at the 18th century Courts of Bayreuth and Mecklenburg. He edited a four volume work on the Baroque composer Adam Falckenhagen. Since 1994 Domning has owned a studio for painting and lithography in Sögel and is known for his artistic depictions of biblical scenes.
