The Moon Upstairs were a rock group from Los Angeles, CA formed in 2001 by Sharif Dumani, Josh Mancell, Mark Sogomian, Aaron Ebensperger, and Dave Baine. Their debut album "Guarding The Golden Apple" was released in 2007 on Gifted Children Records and a U.S. tour with Silver Apples followed. The group recorded their second album in 2008-2009 with guest Simeon Coxe (Silver Apples) adding vocals and oscillator on the song "Ungrateful Children." The Moon Upstairs disbanded in 2010 and their second album remained unreleased. Dumani, Mancell, and Sogomian went on to form Exploding Flowers in 2011. On December 11, 2020 the charity label Piece Of Pie Records, started by Tom Carolan and Zander Schloss, released the Moon Upstairs song "Ungrateful Children" featuring Simeon Coxe of Silver Apples. As tribute to Simeon Coxe after his death on September 8, 2020, and with the consent of Coxe's partner Lydia Winn LeVert, "Ungrateful Children" was released with all the proceeds going to The Nature Conservancy, a non-profit that Simeon Coxe advocated for.
